This is the second issue of Lettres du Brassus for 2023 and is the finale of our celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms. This Anniversary year has seen the introduction of three special Fifty Fathoms models, which we have named Act 1, 2, and 3. Issue 22 of Lettres debuted Act 2, the Fifty Fathoms Tech Gombessa. In this Issue, it is the Act 1 and Act 3 limited editions that take center stage.
As I reflected on this important part of Blancpain’s history, I wanted to share observations from Jean-Jacques Fiechter, Robert Maloubier, and Laurent Ballesta, who have all played key roles in shaping what the Fifty Fathoms collection represents today. Added to their observations are a few thoughts of my own.
The Ladybird is also an important pillar at Blancpain. Here, we introduce the newest line in the collection, Ladybird Colors, and place these timepieces in the context of Blancpain’s pioneering work creating feminine watches.
Our Art de Vivre articles highlight three superstars of French gastronomy: Glenn Viel, the three-star Michelin chef of L’Oustau de Baumanière in Les Baux-de-Provence and judge on France’s Top Chef television series; Pierre Hermé, the most celebrated pâtissier in France; and Château Lafite Rothschild, a legend in Bordeaux.
