Chapter 0
In this Issue we highlight two of our collections.
In this Issue we highlight two of our collections. First, the debut of our newest perpetual—striking with its forest green dial and red gold case—furnishes the occasion to explore not only the wide range of perpetual calendars in our current portfolio, but also the legacy of perpetuals from our past. Along the way, why not learn how we construct a mechanism to account for the complexities of the calendar that governs our lives, witness the final stages of assembly, and embark on an amusing jaunt through the history of how our calendar evolved.
Second, we introduce our newest Fifty Fathoms in a smaller 42 mm diameter offered in both Grade 23 titanium and red gold, available in a wide range of colors and strap/bracelet choices.
Materials take center stage for the Bathyscaphe with the new ceramic models, including our first ceramic bracelet. The properties of ceramic are astonishing: scratch resistance, lightness, wearability. Equally astonishing are the complex and exacting processes used to produce a ceramic timepiece.
Our Art de Vivre articles straddle two continents: the exciting Burgundies of Domaine Dujac and the exquisite three Michelin star Osaka cuisine of Chef Hideaki Matsuo.
Finally, we feature three articles devoted to ocean protection: the first describes our partnership with PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) called Adopt the Blue, seeking to create the world’s largest network of conservation sites; the second details the innovative and fascinating Tamataroa project in French Polynesia studying the great hammerhead shark; third, a brief article recounting the panel discussion hosted by Blancpain in Cannes bringing together world leaders in the cause of ocean protection.
